Racket Buying Tips
Juniors
- 5 year-olds are going to use a 19” junior racket.
- 5-8 year-olds are going to need a 21” or 23” racket depending on how tall they are for their age.
- 9-10 year-olds are going to want a 25” racket.
- 10+ year olds will need a 26” racket.
This will help them make contact with the ball consistently while learning to rally without wearing out their arm as their muscles get used to the game.
Adult Players
When first learning the game of tennis should start with a light racket featuring a larger head size, 98 to 110 square inches racket.
A good tennis racket, especially when you're a beginner, can help level up your play, while the wrong one can expose your weaknesses and cause you injury. Things that will help you to make contact with the ball consistently while learning to rally without wearing out your arm while your muscles get used to the game are:
- Soft strings
- Lightweight body
- Bigger racket head size
- Correct grip size
